The year 1979 very special for both KSBR and Hiroshima. That was the year when jazz debuted on KSBR, and it was also the year that Hiroshima released its self-titled debut album. Of course, that album was played on KSBR, and the long relationship between the station and the group was born. Hiroshima will be just one of the many artists performing at the 2010 KSBR Birthday Bash Jazz Festival.

This year's Bash will feature many returning favorites, including guitarist Freddie Foxx, multi-genre vocalist Evelyn Champagne King, and founding Rippingtons percussionist Steve Reid. The Bash will also welcome many first-timers including local guitarist/vocalist Dean Grech, and bass maestro "Ready Freddie" Washington (hot off the road with Steely Dan).

Once again, there will be more than 30 fabulous musicians at the Bash, so keep listening as we announce more in the coming weeks.

And remember, there are always a lot of surprise guests that we cannot announce until they walk on stage and this year there are more surprises than ever before.
